Products

Our hardwood is suitable for fireplaces, outdoor fires, pizza ovens, and more.

We offer multiple sizes:

  • Cubic Yard Bag
  • Skid of firewood (the equivalent of face cord)
  • Full cord (3 skids of firewood)

We are fully equipped to accommodate larger orders, including truckload deliveries. Our team can also assist you in determining the best size based on your usage needs, whether it’s for home heating, outdoor fire pits, or commercial use like restaurants.

Our face cord (1 skid) consists of approximately 37.3 ft.³ of firewood and is about 1/3 of the full cord. This amount provides a steady supply of firewood for the season. Perfect for moderate usage or for those looking for a manageable amount of firewood that is easy to store.

We sell high-quality wood that is a mixture of maple, oak, beech and birch wood from forests in Muskoka and Bancroft. Our carefully selected blend ensures optimal burning efficiency and a pleasant aroma for both heating and cooking applications.

Firewood should contain 15 to 20% or less moisture for optimal burning. We air-dry all our firewood and season it for two years to make sure that it has an optimal amount of moisture. This ensures that the firewood will burn more efficiently, producing more heat and less smoke. By ensuring the right moisture content, our firewood also produces less creosote buildup, making it safer for your chimney and home.

Firewood is a renewable source of energy. It does not contribute to global warming, making it an environmentally friendly way to produce heat. Unlike other forms of energy like fuel that produces large amounts of carbon dioxide, burning firewood is carbon neutral. Firewood supports energy independence by reducing reliance on fossil fuels, particularly in rural or off-grid areas.
It produces a lot of heat and can lower your utility bills. You also never have to worry about heating being disrupted by a storm or power outage with firewood. It also adds to the ambiance of a space and creates a cozy and warm environment.

We neatly stack your firewood in rows and deliver it on a skid. It is packaged well so you don’t have to worry about any mess. To extend its quality, we recommend storing firewood in a covered, ventilated area like a woodshed or on a raised platform to prevent ground moisture.

Firewood burns best when it has the right amount of moisture – 15 to 20%. If the wood contains more than this, it will produce less heat and cause more smoke. It can also be potentially harmful to the quality of air and your chimney if burned indoors.

Skid Fees

This will depend on the frequency. For occasional use for a backyard fire pit, campfires, and indoor fireplaces, a yard bag is a good amount. A face cord or skid is ideal for regular home use, cottages, restaurants, hospitality, and commercial settings.

A face cord costs $220. It’s an excellent choice for moderate firewood use, providing a reliable supply for fireplaces, outdoor fires, or seasonal needs.

A face cord is priced at $220, while a full cord, consisting of three face cords, costs $620. Opting for a full cord offers better value for larger or long-term firewood needs. Need more? What Is a Face Cord of Wood?

A face cord of wood is a term used to describe a specific measurement of a stack of wood. It is a common measurement used for firewood, but it can also refer to other kinds of wood, such as lumber. Different types of wood in a face cord can alter the overall volume as the size and shape of the wood changes. However, the face cord dimensions remain the same.

How Big Is a Cord of Wood?

A face cord of wood measures 4 feet high by 8 feet long. The depth of a face cord varies between 12 to 18 inches. At Fairwood Firewood, our face cord firewood is 4’ x 8’ x 14”. The overall volume is about 37.3 cubic feet.

    Face Cord vs. Full Cord

A full cord, like a face cord, is another measurement used for a stack of wood. Here are the differences between the two:

    • Face Cord – A face cord of wood is one-third the size of a full cord. It supplies a sufficient amount of firewood for residential or commercial use. This includes homes, cottages, restaurants, hotels, and resorts.
    • Full Cord – A full cord of wood contains three rows of stacked wood, each measuring 4 feet high by 8 feet long and between 12 and 18 inches deep. The total depth of a full cord ranges from 36” to 54”. At Fairwood Firewood, our full cords measure 4’ x 8’ x 42”.

    Frequently Asked Questions

At Fairwood Firewood, a face cord of firewood costs $200 per skid. After taxes, delivery expenses, and possible discounts, the final cost can vary. Delivery costs are based on distance. We deliver all throughout southern Ontario, including Toronto, Muskoka, Kawartha Lakes, and Oshawa.

A full cord of firewood at Fairwood Firewood costs $600 per 3 skids. However, the final cost can vary depending on promotions, shipping costs, and taxes.

One full cord contains about 3 face cords. While the height and length of a full cord remain the same as one face cord, the depth changes from 14” to 42”.

On average, a face cord of firewood lasts between 3 and 4 weeks. However, this varies depending on the amount of firewood you use at once, how often you use it, and what you use the firewood for. In contrast, a full cord of firewood may last 8 to 12 weeks.

Yes, a face cord typically fits in the back of a pickup truck. The average truck bed is between 6.5 and 8 feet long and a face cord is 8 feet long. If your truck is under 8 feet long, you’ll need to carefully re-stack the wood to make it fit without compromising the near view window.

It’s called a face cord because it measures the same height and length as a full cord but has a shorter depth measurement. As one face cord equals 1/3 or a full cord, it’s the “face” of the cord.
