Fairwood Firewood is exceptional in many ways. We offer premium firewood suitable for indoor and outdoor fires, and we have a process that ensures our customers receive a product of the highest quality. It all boils down to superior processing using specialized machinery that produces the perfect results. This is where the magic happens. Our firewood processor automates the process and is designed for high-performance and efficient firewood processing. The handling of each log from the moment it is cut down to its delivery to your doorstep is meticulous.

State-of-the-Art Posch Firewood Processor
We use a Posch Firewood Processor, the only one in Ontario. This cutting-edge machinery is top-of-the-line in firewood processing and has been a game-changer for firewood production, handling everything from cutting to bagging. It offers maximum production, feeds logs automatically, and saws each one to the desired thickness using a WIDIA saw blade or the harvester chainsaw depending on the desired log thickness. This specialized machine offers multiple splitting systems: standard, multi, and vario.

Our Seasoned Firewood Process
There is a reason why our firewood lasts longer, burns hotter, and ignites more easily. We take measures to ensure that our firewood has the right amount of moisture for optimal burning. The process of achieving this is a critical part of firewood seasoning. We don’t rush the process and season our firewood by air drying it for two years on a skid. Firewood seasoning rids the wood of excess moisture, leaving behind the right amount of moisture for the perfect fire that allows you to enjoy a steady burn that provides warmth and comfort.
Receiving Tree Logs
The process begins by receiving sustainably sourced high-quality wood from the Bancroft and Muskoka forests. The logs are delivered and prepared for firewood processing.
Cut
Our Posch Firewood Processor cuts each log based on the diameter of the log.
Split
Log splitting is essential in ensuring that the firewood is properly seasoned, easier to store and work with, and burns more efficiently.
Kindling separation
This separates small pieces that are easily combustible and needed to ignite the fire from the rest of the firewood.
Bagging
Kindling can take up to 10% of bagged firewood weight. By removing the kindling, we deliver 10% more firewood than our competitors who do not separate the two.
Drying
We air-dry firewood for two years and place it on the skids to ensure it dries properly, does not develop mould, and contains no more than 15-20% moisture.
Moisture meter tests
We use a moisture meter to test for optimal moisture levels.

What Is a Face Cord of Wood?
A face cord of wood is a term used to describe a specific measurement of a stack of wood. It is a common measurement used for firewood, but it can also refer to other kinds of wood, such as lumber. Different types of wood in a face cord can alter the overall volume as the size and shape of the wood changes. However, the face cord dimensions remain the same.
How Big Is a Cord of Wood?
A face cord of wood measures 4 feet high by 8 feet long. The depth of a face cord varies between 12 to 18 inches. At Fairwood Firewood, our face cord firewood is 4’ x 8’ x 14”. The overall volume is about 37.3 cubic feet.
Face Cord vs. Full Cord
A full cord, like a face cord, is another measurement used for a stack of wood. Here are the differences between the two:
